Tips on how to use a food mixer

If you are the proud owner of a food mixer, then you know about all of the cool features they have and what they can do. You can use them to make dough for cookies and pizza, for instance. Making holiday cookies each year becomes a snap because of the ease of mixing up that thick dough that can then be rolled out. As with anything, there is a learning curve when it comes to using a food mixer. Therefore, it is important to read the instructions carefully before you use it the first time.

For instance, there are usually several attachments that come with the unit. Some of these might be very helpful in keeping you from flinging batter everywhere. This sometimes happens when you turn one of these powerful units on without the proper protection in place. Because they are so powerful, they can send wet flour all over your kitchen in an instant!

Also, it is important to always use the right amount of liquid in your recipe so that you do not burn up the motor in your food mixer by trying to mix dry, hard dough or batter. Most of these units come with attachments such as a dough hook, wire whip and flat beater. All of these items have different uses depending on what you are trying to prepare. You can even buy additional attachments such as a juicer and a sausage stuffer! However, it is best not to get too advanced until you learn how to use the machine properly.
