Keeping warm with a wonderful menu this month
Even though I live in the sunny skies of Portugal we still have really cold winters just like most of the world. It gets warm from around March so we are now at that point when we are sick to death of the cold weather and all we want to do is have a walk by the beach.
However I should be grateful when I look at how bad the weather is in England.

With cold weather though comes a winter menu and I love cooking hot winter food that you can enjoy for hours with your family.
Bread, chicken and chilled white wine – the perfect match
Since moving to Portugal I have discovered that there is three things that a Portuguese menu simply can’t live without. It is your bread, chicken and chilled white wine. (obviously I find the wine the most appealing especially after a long day!)
Whenever you visit a Portuguese restaurant the white wine tastes beautiful and it is nicely chilled and served to you at the beginning of the meal. At the same time you will be served with fantastic sliced crusty bread which compliments the wine perfectly and it will come out with some butter, sardine pate and locally produced olives.
My favourite food assistant
If there is one thing that I couldn’t live without in the kitchen it would have to be the slow cooker or crockpot as it is better know to my American readers.
When I first came across them I had the typical bloke attitude:
Why on earth would I waste my money on one of these?
Well the truth is we received our very first slow cooker as a present from a customer that purchased from us in our early door to door selling days. They had simply downgraded the size and give us their family sized slow cooker. At first we placed it in the cupboard and forgot about it until the winter months approached us.
How To Get Your Teenagers Eating Healthy
These days, it is very hard to get teens to eat healthier foods. With all of the fast food and junk food that is available to them, it is difficult to get them to want a salad for dinner. However, by taking some simple steps and implementing them in your home, you can greatly increase the chances of getting your teenagers to eat healthy.
How to Start Eating Healthy and What to Eat
It seems like life is moving so fast these days that eating healthy is a hard task to accomplish. People are working, carting kids around town and generally just trying to get by with their daily lives. However, in order to encourage and maintain optimum health, it is so important to know how to start eating healthy and what to eat.
The Most Powerful Way To Fight Bad Health Is To Make Home Cooking Fast And Easy!
Obesity and related health problems are epidemic in North America. Not only are most of us eating way too much and getting little exercise, but we’re also eating very fatty foods. Even if you shun fast food restaurants and buy your food at supermarkets, it’s still almost impossible to find quick-to-fix foods that aren’t high in fat content.
Experts say we were in far better health a few decades ago when just about everyone prepared their meals from scratch. Home cooking, even when elevated to the gourmet level, is far healthier than restaurants or instant dishes from the grocery store.
How to Avoid Binge Eating
Binge eating is the act of overeating in one sitting when you are not necessarily even hungry. Many people actually do this in private because of their embarrassment over their eating habits. It is not uncommon for these people to have private stashes of food hidden in their home or car. Some people even make late night runs through fast food drive-thru windows to get a “fix”.
Thankfully, there are some tips that can help you if you have this problem. You can overcome this issue if you implement some proven strategies to help you avoid this negative habit. Here are some ideas to get your started:
